LEGO Civics Education
Civics and finance education through LEGO City
Learners, especially young ones, learn best by doing and playing. Similar to the SIM City, but using LEGO bricks, we built a curriculum around LEGO bricks. Kids (ages 4-10) got to simulate starting a new city from scratch. They had to learn math and jobs to buy bricks to update their houses and learned about the role of government, including taxes. This program became popular weekend program that eventually went into after-school programs in the city. Additionally, various language immersion programs (Chinese, Korean, and Spanish) adopted our curriculum.
